Outland!
The merry WoWoW crew, including Thenoman getting ready to walk through the portal into Outland. Only 2 months of group levelling before we can start tackling those heroics in Northrend!
Some thoughts on endgaming
My main has been at level 80 for just over a year and it has been pretty slow going the truth be told. I started out running the odd heroic or crafting the gear I would need to get into bottom end raids. I got some help from my guild at the time but really struggled with developing my style of play from levelling to end game.
It is only really the past five or six months that I have started to make some progression towards current endgame content. I have made a couple of forays into Icecrown Citadel (10 man version) and find it pretty easy to PuG raid the older content such as Ulduar and Naxxramus.
The biggest block to my progression was the constant moving of the goal posts. When I first dinged 80 you had to grind heroic instances for gear, then they brought in cheaper badge items and made some of the raid drops I had from Naxx obselete. Then when I had got full badge gear from heroics, the GearScore addon was introduced which meant that you had to have a certain score to get into the raid you needed to get the gear you needed to get the gearscore required. It became very chicken and egg.
I am now getting close to the 2 piece T10 bonus for my healer spec and am finding that I can raid everywhere except ICC on my retribution spec but am a little nervous about how much time I put ina s I know that in a couple of months it will all be overwritten by Cataclysm gear.
For anyone getting into WoW, the first lesson you need to get your head round is that “gear today, gone tomorrow”. Anything you get today gearwise will be obselete pretty quick.
Go live
I officially launched the website today by finishing off all the back end admin, sorting out some artwork for the banner at the top of each page and finally getting my armory links to work.
I have a contact me section for any thoughts and suggestions you have about the site in general and there are comments section on each blog post for post specific conversation. I will not tolerate spam, so if you want to advertise or post links etc then please go somewhere else. All comments are moderated before being published. Having said that, however, I do welcome feedback and comments even if they are critical so if you have something to say then feel free to say it.
I intend to start chronicling my play and thoughts about play style, specs, content etc so stay tuned if you are interested in paladins, healing, dps warriors and casual end game play.
I am a casual player of World of Warcraft, which isn’t to say that I spend little time in Azeroth, but I do not have the time to spend three or four nights a week raiding or PvP’ing. I usually spend 10-20 hours in game each week depending on various commitments. I love reading up around the mechanics of the game and the strategies and tactics required to excel in whatever class or role I am playing. Hopefully this blog will provide a slightly different persepctive on WoW than the other blogs on the subject and I am sure there will be plenty of self depracation to boot.
Enjoy!
Welcome!
